Making baskets actually began with J. W. Longaberger back in 1919 who perfected the skill and opened up a business with his wife. Longaberger baskets are so popular and so rooted in the history of the company that the building of the Longaberger headquarters in Newark, Ohio is actually a Longaberger basket.
